Kaelynne Hernandez is a first-generation Mexican-American artist hailing from New Haven, Connecticut (b. 2000). In 2022, she graduated from the University of Connecticut with a BFA in Painting & Drawing.
For her painting practice, she explores the esoteric and the spiritual, and deepens her knowledge on ancient Latin american culture before colonialism. In doing this, she challenges her current understandings of society and her identity. Her paintings act as a way to process her inhertited beliefs surrounding these areas of life. This results in paintings that are heavily symbolic and explore themes of identity, diaspora, mysticism, and the body.
Since graduating, she particapated in number of group shows in gallery spaces including 63 audubon and The Stairwell Space. In 2024, Kaelynne was a mural apprentice for the largest mural in New Haven, Thermal Reflections. As well as had her hand in the mural at Possible Futures book store. Today, she helps a number of artist in the New Haven area as an studio assitant, helping in the preparation of surfaces, organizing, and general studio managment.
